中国一些沿海城市购买国际电子垃圾已有近30年的历史,并从其中回收各种重金属。新技术的发展使得人类对矿产资源的依赖程度越来越高,电子垃圾是我们这个时代新的矿产资源。而冶金的行为也将金属传播到更广泛的环境中,甚至进入生物链和更远的地方。重金属的稳定性表明它们存在于人类时代之外,所以在人类世之后,地质层中广泛的重金属痕迹将成为我们留下的一个铭文。
人会死去,季节会变化,但从植物中提取的风铃会像墓志铭一样留在田野里,每一个声音都“诉说”着人类存在的瞬间。
I extracted copper from plants in e-waste-contaminated areas through plant mining (metal-rich plants that recycle metals) and used the extract to make a small wind bell. Under the wind, the sound of metal collision is different from the sound of plants rubbing, which is a symbol of environmental alienation.
Some coastal cities in China have been buying international e-waste for nearly 30 years and recycling various heavy metals from it. The development of new technologies has made human beings more and more dependent on mineral resources. Electronic waste is a new mineral resource in our era. And the act of metallurgy also spreads metals into the wider environment, even into biological chains and beyond. The stability of heavy metals suggests that they existed beyond the Anthropocene, so after that, the extensive traces of heavy metals in geological layers will be an inscription left by us.
People will die and the seasons will change, but the wind bell from plants will stay in the fields like epitaphs, and every sound "tells" the moment of human existence.
